Why Pakistan's Utility Bills Are So Complex

Pakistani electricity bills aren't straightforward — they involve progressive NEPRA slab rates, a critical 200-unit protected/unprotected threshold, fuel price adjustments, quarterly tariff adjustments, GST, and electricity duty. Missing the 200-unit threshold can double your bill. This calculator makes all of that transparent by showing exactly which slab your consumption falls into and how every line item is calculated.

Gas billing adds another layer: two separate utilities (SNGPL in Punjab/KPK, SSGC in Sindh/Balochistan) with their own slab structures, seasonal load management, and estimated vs. actual billing cycles.

All Calculations Are Done in Your Browser

BillHisab doesn't collect any personal data. You don't log in, no account is created, and your appliance list and usage data stay on your device. Calculations use NEPRA-notified tariff rates embedded directly in the app, updated whenever NEPRA revises rates. Learn more about how BillHisab works →

Common Questions

How often are the tariff rates updated?

NEPRA periodically revises electricity tariffs — typically through quarterly tariff determinations and annual base tariff notifications. We update the rates in this calculator whenever NEPRA issues a new notification. Gas tariffs are revised by OGRA annually, usually effective July 1st. The current rates were last verified against official NEPRA/OGRA notifications.

Does this work for all electricity distribution companies in Pakistan?

The electricity calculator uses the standard NEPRA residential tariff which applies to all DISCOs (LESCO, IESCO, MEPCO, PESCO, HESCO, QESCO, FESCO, GEPCO, SEPCO, TESCO). K-Electric (Karachi) operates under a separate rate schedule with similar but distinct slabs — our calculator uses K-Electric's published residential tariff when you select Karachi.

Can I share my bill estimate?

Yes — the Share button generates a link encoding your appliance list and usage pattern. Anyone with the link can see your estimate breakdown. No data is stored on our servers; the entire configuration is encoded in the URL itself.

Is BillHisab affiliated with NEPRA, WAPDA, or any utility?

No. BillHisab is an independent tool built by a Pakistani developer to help households understand and estimate their utility bills. It is not affiliated with NEPRA, WAPDA, K-Electric, SNGPL, SSGC, or any government body. For official bills and account queries, contact your respective DISCO or utility directly.
